Good Lookin Out

For Lou Koller – A Tribute and Fundraiser

Lou Koller has been a brother and a constant in my life for decades. From the earliest days of the New York hardcore scene, Lou and Sick of It All have stood for loyalty, strength, and integrity, values that define the music we love and the people who create it. I’ve been lucky enough to share a lifetime of friendship and music with Lou, stretching all the way back to the mid-1980s when Sick of It All were just getting started.

Back then, I helped them get on stage at the Anthrax in Connecticut by filling in on bass for a few songs before my band Token Entry played. It was one of those spontaneous moments that I was excited to be a part of, and one that I’m proud of (and brag about) to this day. Since that night, all of the favors between us have been incoming. They took my later band Black Train Jack out on tour across Europe, included me in their unique SOIA culture, and trusting me to create the artwork for the last three Sick of It All albums, as well as countless gig posters with Hellgate Industries.

Now, Lou is facing one of the hardest fights of his life. He’s battling cancer with the same grit and heart that he’s shown every day for forty years in this scene. I wanted to do something meaningful, something that captures what He represents to everyone who’s ever been moved by his music or his spirit.

So I painted this portrait of Lou. It’s a labor of love, created with all the respect and gratitude he deserves. The back will hold messages and well wishes from musicians, artists, and friends across the hardcore, punk and metal community.

This piece isn’t just art, it’s an heirloom. A symbol of how deep the roots of the scene run, and how we stand together when one of our own needs us most. The portrait will be raffled online, with all proceeds going directly to support Lou in his fight.

For Lou. Our brother.
